Ello mate! Spoke to an Aussie lately?

In my ELANG 223 course we have been studying different English dialects
it is so interesting how many different ways there are to present the same language
i have a presentation tomorrow on a dialect of my choice, and i chose to do an Aussie accent!
they have some of the most interesting differences in the language over there.

they hardly pronounce any of the consonants that are central to the word.
for example, in the word 'hate' the 't' disappears completely as does the 'r' in the word 'bugger'

they say things like 'heaps' instead of 'totally' like...'That was heaps awesome mate!' instead of, 'that was totally awesome dude!'

they call tennis shoes 'runna's' and soda pop 'fizzy drinks'
and they neglect to say the A at the first of 'Australian', so it sounds like to them is starts with a 'U', that is, when they say the full word of course, mostly they just refer to themselves as 'Aussies'

They also think it is pretty ridiculous that we don't refer to the 'trunk' as a 'boot', a 'shopping cart' as a 'trolley' or a 'pepper' as a 'Capsicum'

Aussie's definitely have their own way of sayin things down unda!
You'd be a right bloke to say otherwise!
